WOODSHED V – Divisional Championships

A LEAGUE ON FIRE; The TEAMS of the NATIONAL PUBLIC SAFETY FOOTBALL LEAGUE

THIS JUST IN; Our League has never been hotter!

The NPSFL is now 25 Team’s strong, and that is to include the rookie teams, ROANOKE RAMPAGE, SOUTH CAROLINA COMMANDERS; who already has the reputation of good hosts, and CHICAGO FIRE, playing like a second year team.  As a League’s top Linebacker once said, “You’re no longer rookies.” (See ‘The Game verses LA- http://enforcernation.com/2010/05/10/the-game-verses-la/ )

Our League has had a solid year with not only numbers of teams, but the quality of teams as well.  I believe the 2010 season has yet to have one forfit vs. the year before.  As they say, the past is the past baby! And the LEAGUE is near the end of one of it’s most epic seasons.

In the WOODSHED; Divisional Playoff

But now I’ve drawn you into the WOODSHED.  A section of the Nation that is not always easy to stomach.  You are entering a world of truth and outright forth-coming.  A world of where I tell of the views important to the Nation and leave it open to discussion among those who care to take issue.  The topic on hand is one of the reasons making this season so great; The Divisional Championships.

Questions of what team goes where at the end of the season has already sparked debates that rival other great sporting champions and how their crowned.  The New York teams are always at the top, and it usually comes down to who wins the game of NYPD vs FDNY AKA “THE CIVIL WAR”.  This year PHOENIX is definately the top team, so it would seem an automatic conclusion that the Championship game will be set once the 23rd of May has come and go.  In the words of ESPN’S Lee Corso, “Not so fast my friend.”  DALLAS shocked the world when the DEFENDERS beat CHARLOTTE 18-14.  In fact, the only team not surprised were the DALLAS DEFENDERS themselves and possibly their fans; THE DALLAS DIE-HARDS.  (We have the ENFORCER FAITHFUL here in SAN DIEGO, so I know a thing or two about excellent fan support.)  Even COLUMBUS, who was barely on the Top Ten Map last week, woke up the echos to put their name in the middle for all to see, as they and their BIG BATTLE of I-71 victory places them at the #6 slot in the Top Ten.

Lovin' the ATL and I'm not alone. In a word, CLASS.

A word can even be said on behalf of my beloved ENFORCERS, who finally saw the light offensively and now with that nasty DARKSIDE Defense look as though they could take on the world.  Indeed, the World of the NPSFL has never seen such intriguing, scenerios and excellent display of what our Leagues Teams has to offer…And DON’T THINK I HAVN’T LOOKED AT YOU ATL!

The word playoffs get tossed around our League by those frustrated with a stand out season and a lack luster finish to decide the fate of the Leagues Champion.  I will tell you this, my friend; The NPSFL CHAMPION IS ONE OF THE MOST DEFINATIVE CHAMPION IN ALL OF SPORT.

#10 JUSTIN DORMAN gets a much needed block by #85 JUSTIN MORRIS verses the talented CENTRAL TEXAS WOLFPACK

Alabama Crimson Tide beat the Texas Longhorns, sorry DALLAS. But were the TIDE truly the best teamin college football? You could still make a case for Boise State and their undefeated season deserved a title shot.  I couldn’t tell you who won the NCAA Tournament, but I know KENTUKY is the best team and they didn’t win.  The SAINTS won the Superbowl, but would they win more than five out of ten times?, Go ahead and give Peyton Manning another shot at that thing and see what happens.  MLB, the NHL and the NBA may have a shot at claiming their champion is year in and year out the best team in their respective leagues, but for a sport as brutal as football, where there is no choice but to play one great game for the champion to be crowned; The NPSFL Divisional and Power Ranking system is as SOLID as you get.

Take the Boise State version of our League, either COLUMBUS or DALLAS.  DALLAS beat a more impressive team in CHARLOTTE, who I say still has one of the fiercest defenses in the League.  COLUMBUS beat CLEVELAND, and beat them by the biggest margin of all last weeks games. In fact, COLUMBUS beat DALLAS last year.  So who’s Boise State, and who’s TCU?  If those two played in the Division II Championship, and the CHICAGO ENFORCERS WILL HAVE SOMETHING TO SAY ABOUT THAT, than is the D-II Champ out of luck?

(lower left) #14 SEAN "DOUBLE TEAM" MANNING vs #89 BRYAN "NEEDS TO BE DOUBLE TEAMED" VOMERO will have more than a crowd of 9000+ watching this week end.

I say no. Without a “plus one’ game, the NPSFL Champion will have been decided when PHOENIX takes on FDNY/NYPD.  The point system is in place to try and prevent an occurance that we could find at the end of the season, only to say, that IF NYPD wins. (AND after seeing FDNY, that’s a BIG ‘IF’)  But there inlies why you came to the WOODSHED; NYPD played their games in Divison I.  Division I is Divison I because the teams within that division essencially pummeled the teams they played the year before.  Unlike the Boise State and TCU’s of the world, YOU HAVE ONE GREAT YEAR IN OUR LEAGUE, YOU INSTANTLY GET RESPECT; It’s called Division I.  (And, not to hype the FINEST, but they’ve been having these ‘GREAT’  years every frickin’ year. They could make a case for a possible ‘ALPHA” Division where only PHONIX, NYPD, FDNY and LAPD deserve to be….Oh, the ENFORCERS are close!)

Offensive Line Coach DUANE POLAND and the rest of TONY LAWERY'S talented Coaching Staff explain the road they're about to pave.

DALLAS and COLUMBUS have championship roads they have paved themselves, AND HAVE EARNED THEIR RESPECT.  The Division II Championship game is going to be as exciting as Division I.  Their rings will be just as big.  And the NPSFL will look forward to a better year than what this incredible 2010 ride has been.

I’m lovin’ the feed back that’s being thrown around from within our League.  Can you feel the power of our great teams coming together.  The format is set, the teams are in place, Let the games begin and Let the Champions be crowned!
